Common Error Over Mayan
Calendar
First of all, the word ‘Mayan’ is misused
in popular
culture. The people of the Mayan culture, both ancient and modern are
Mayas, not Mayans.
There are millions of poor grammatical references floating about on the
Internet today. To make things worse, the popular reference connected
to 2012 end of the world
is
that is that it is the effects foretold to be coming at the end of the Mayan calendar.
To correct millions of
people’s misuse of educated English, the proper way to speak of this
count of
days is the Maya calendar, a phenomenal creation fully credited to the
ancient
Maya people.
As for the cry that the Mayan calendar
ending is no different than the culmination of any year in the
Gregorian calendar, the uproar is correct. As with all time cycles, the
proper
way to view the Maya calendar system Long Count is that, yes indeed, a
new time
cycle begins on December
21, 2012. The question
is does time stop if no one is there to watch it pass? An intelligent
mind at
such a posing would ponder the implications rather than spouting off
that
December 22nd will be just another day.
Yes, time as measured on the calendar of
the ancient Maya
people will begin
a new cycle in 2012 on the
Winter Solstice. The part of the entire Mayan
calendar scenario that the majority of people fail to
grasp is simply and
unarguably presented with the following age old quote:
If a tree falls down in the woods and no
one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
So if the day following the end of our
current age, this awaited event of December 21, 2012, is just the
beginning of a new cycle, does it matter if
anyone is around to watch it unfold? To those who are concerned about what
will happen in 2012, the end of the Maya people’s
infamous calendar matters a
great deal. To those who loudly debunk the entire idea simply because
within
their lifetime, time has never ceased to move or exists, whether or not
a tree
that falls in the forest makes a sound … is of little importance either.
We live in a time of drastic change, and
refusal to accept
that fact is a flag that ignorance exists. Change is a given that
humans are
wont to accept. In our current world, normal is swiftly becoming passé.
All
ancient cultures around the world are in agreement that the end of this
age is
coming soon. Some people’s teachings agree with the Maya
people’s calendar that shows this current
cycle of time
will end
on December 21, 2012
will be the end of, the end of a great era on
Earth. Expecting everything to remain the same no matter how many
warnings and
red flags are raised is a sure sign that a large group of people are
simply not
paying attention.
These people who ignore the notice that
the end
of the Great Year
of Earth is approaching will be
ill prepared to deal with the changes already unfolding before their
blinded
eyes. There are
more things at play in
the world today that require out avid attention beyond the Maya’s
people Mayan calendar.
As the Cherokee legends
foretell, it is time to wake up before you get caught in a situation
you could
have avoided.
Time Untime is important to understand. It
is 3 days at the
end of the ancient Cherokee calendar of no heavenly movement, and
perhaps a
complete absence of heavenly bodies as a whole that lies between an old
solar
system cycle and the dawning of a new great age. Time Untime begins on
December
18, 2012 and it ends
on December 21, 2012.
It isn’t the Mayan
calendar that is coming to a close, but the Maya calendar
known as the Long
Count that is approaching the end of the Great Cycle, commonly referred
to as
the Great Year in the Bible. Christian churches call the end of the
great age ‘the
end of time’, uncannily similar to the Cherokee
term of ‘Time Untime’. No matter what you choice to label it, the near
future
will be nothing like today. Exactly what do you think happens at the
end of a
great age? Time Untime will be whatever you make it to be, just as the
Maya
elders of old and all other ancient cultures around the world readily
concur.
Isn’t it time you learned what
really might happen in 2012? It seems the only way you will
know
what you want to make it be for you. After all, have you ever dealt
with Time
Untime or the end of a Great Age before?
December 21, 2012 gets closer
every day.
